Story

Our story

Riwayat means the story that is told. We began in one room with three artisans and a cutting table; today every piece still leaves the same atelier by the same hands.

Riwayat means the story that is told. Every piece of ours begins with one.

— From the atelier
  1. Origins

Our founder learned embroidery from her grandmother in Lahore, then carried the craft to Riyadh. The first piece sold was a single dupatta, embroidered over three weeks.

  2. The craft

Zardozi, dabka, sheesha and silk thread. All worked by hand on a wooden frame, and counted by the thread. There is no embroidery machine in the atelier.
